5 minute Chili Oil
Ingredients
- Shallot · dried minced2 tbsp
- Garlic · dried minced1 tbsp
- Chili flake · dried flakes1 cup
- Sugar1 tbsp
- Salt½ tsp
- Soy sauce3 tbsp
- Vegetable oil1 ½ cups
Instructions
- Place the garlic, shallots, and both chili flakes in a large heat-proof bowl, in that order. Add the sugar, salt and soy sauce.
- Heat the oil in a tall small saucepan to 360°F to 370°F (182°C to 187°C).
- Carefully pour the hot oil over the chili mixture. It will sizzle strongly, so take care.
- Stir with a long spatula or chopsticks until the dry chili flakes look wet and no longer dry.
- Let it cool. The chili flakes will sink and an oil layer will form on top.
- Store in a jar for later, or serve right away.
