Baked Alaska in an Air-Fryer! | Jamie's Air-Fryer Meals, with Tefal | Channel 4, Mondays, 8pm
Ingredients
- Ice cream2
- Hazelnut1 handful
- Egg2
- Sugar100 g
- Hot cross bun1
- Sherry · for drizzling
- Chocolate spread2 tbsp
- Peach · sliced½ x 415 g
Instructions
- Shape 2 large scoops of vanilla ice cream into balls and freeze until solid.
- Cook the hazelnuts in the air fryer at 190°C for 4 minutes, or until lightly golden, then remove them.
- Separate the eggs, putting the whites into a clean bowl (keep the yolks for another use). Add a pinch of sea salt and whisk until stiff peaks form, then gradually add the sugar with the mixer still running until glossy and combined.
- Halve the hot cross bun and place each half on a circle of greaseproof paper. Drizzle the cut sides with a little sherry, then spread with the hazelnut chocolate spread. Drain the peaches, pat them dry, and arrange half on each.
- Top one bun half with an ice cream ball, then spoon or pipe half the meringue over it, covering the ice cream and bun completely and making peaks.
- Transfer to the air fryer on its paper and cook at 190°C for 5 minutes, until the meringue is golden all over.
- Rest for 1 to 2 minutes so the meringue crisps slightly. Chop the hazelnuts roughly, sprinkle over, and serve immediately.
- Repeat the last three steps for the second Alaska.
