Bottom of the Chocolate Box Brownies
Ingredients
- Dark chocolate chip150 g
- Butter180 g
- Egg3
- Sugar265 g
- Flour60 g
- Cocoa powder40 g
- Baking powder½ tsp
- Almond · ground60 g
- Chocolate16
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F (fan). Line a baking tray about 20 x 20 cm and 3 cm deep with baking parchment, leaving some overhanging to lift the brownie out later.
- Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water. Stir and let cool slightly.
- Once slightly cooled, whisk in the sugar and eggs.
- When the chocolate is fully mixed in, sieve the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder over the mixture, then add the ground almonds.
- Fold gently in a figure of eight to keep the air in.
- Pour the mixture into the lined tray.
- Arrange the chocolates evenly on top, one per portion, and press them slightly into the mixture.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Leave to cool in the tray.
- Lift the brownie out using the parchment, then slice into portions with a sharp knife. It crumbles less the longer it cools.
