Bread vada
Ingredientes
- Bread3 fatias
- Carrot½ xícara
- Onion¼ xícara
- Chili pepper2
- Garam masala½ colher de chá
- Salt
- Mint2 colheres de sopa
- Cilantro2 colheres de sopa
- Ginger½ colher de chá
- Cumin¼ colher de chá
- Rice flour2 colheres de sopa
- Oil
Modo de preparo
- Tear the bread slices into pieces and put them in a mixing bowl.
- Add the ginger, carrots, onions, mint, coriander leaves, salt, green chili, red chili, cumin seeds and garam masala. Mix gently and check whether water is needed; if the vegetables are very moist, you may not need any.
- If needed, add 1 to 2 tablespoons water and mix. Add the rice flour and knead into a non-sticky dough.
- Heat oil for frying. Divide the mixture into 7 to 8 portions and shape each into a ball.
- Flatten each ball gently into a thin patty; thick patties will taste doughy.
- Slide the vadas gently into hot oil and fry on medium heat, watching closely because they brown quickly. Stir often and turn them to the other side.
- When golden, remove the vadas to kitchen tissue to drain.
- Air fryer: preheat to 390°F (200°C) for at least 15 minutes. Brush the vadas with oil or ghee, place them in the basket and air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, turning them after 5 to 6 minutes. Adjust timing to your air fryer and vada size.
- Oven: preheat to 400°F (210°C) for at least 15 minutes. Brush the vadas with oil or ghee, place them on parchment paper and bake for 14 to 16 minutes until crisp and golden, depending on size.
