Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Put the sugar and water in a medium saucepan, stir to combine, then cook over medium-high heat without stirring for 13 to 15 minutes, until dark amber.
  2. Off the heat, carefully whisk in the heavy cream until smooth, then whisk in the butter and salt until fully combined. Let it cool to room temperature, about 1 hour.
  3. Line a 9 x 13-inch (22 x 33 cm) rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
  4. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of barely simmering water, keeping the bowl off the water, stirring until fully melted, 1½ to 2 minutes.
  5. Spoon off ½ cup (120 ml) of the melted chocolate into a resealable bag and set aside. Spread the rest evenly on the prepared sheet.
  6. Scatter the pretzels evenly over the chocolate, then pour 1 cup (240 ml) of the cooled caramel over them and spread evenly.
  7. Scatter the apple cubes over the caramel.
  8. Snip a ¼-inch opening in the corner of the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the apples.
  9. Refrigerate for 2 hours until set, then cut into pieces. Keep refrigerated and serve within 24 hours.
