Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Roll out the sugar dough or pie dough thinly, line a tart shell with it and prick with a fork. (Alternatively, skip the crust and bake in a greased and floured cake pan as a clafoutis.)
  2. In a food processor, break down the marzipan with the powdered sugar. Add the remaining filling ingredients and process until completely smooth; set aside.
  3. Rinse and pit the cherries. Fill the tart shell no more than two-thirds full with the filling, then tuck in the pitted cherries.
  4. Preheat the fan oven to 345°F/175°C with an upside-down baking tray or a pizza stone in the lower third of the oven. Once preheated, wait a further 15–20 minutes so the stone absorbs more heat.
  5. Slide the pie straight onto the pizza stone and bake for 40–45 minutes. Let cool, then unmold. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
