Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef across the grain into thin strips and put them in a clean bowl.
  2. Mix the sugar, cornstarch and soy sauce in a small bowl until smooth, pour over the beef, toss to coat, and leave at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. When ready to cook, cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
  4. Heat a wok or high-sided pan over high heat with 1 tablespoon of oil. When hot, stir-fry the marinated beef for a few minutes until it has some colour. Remove to a clean bowl.
  5. Lower the heat, add a little more oil if needed, and stir-fry the broccoli over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes, until tender.
  6. While the broccoli cooks, crush or chop the garlic and mix it in a small bowl with the soy sauce, brown sugar and cornflour, stirring until smooth.
  7. Return the beef to the wok with the sauce and stir-fry for a few minutes until thickened to your liking.
  8. Serve over rice.
