Chocolate Baklava Rings (The Easiest Greek Dessert You'll Make)
Ingredients
- Filo pastry1 lb
- Butter · melted10 oz
- Sugar1 cup
- Honey½ cups
- Rose water
- Chocolate6 oz
- Cream¾ cups
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Chocolate spread
- Ice cream
- Mixed berries
- Whipped cream
- Pistachio · chopped
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Make the syrup: boil the sugar, honey, water and citrus juice, stirring until dissolved. Take off the heat and cool completely.
- Make the ganache: put the chocolate in a bowl, pour over the cream heated until just boiling, add vanilla and whisk until smooth and glossy. Set aside.
- Keep the phyllo covered with a lightly damp towel. Lay one sheet short side towards you, brush lightly with melted butter, then fold in half from bottom to top.
- Place a skewer or straw along the bottom edge, roll the sheet up around it leaving about 1 inch free at the top. Gently push both ends toward the centre to ruffle, then pull out the skewer.
- Join the ends into a ring, press lightly to seal, and place on the lined sheet.
- Repeat with the remaining phyllo, then brush all the rings generously with melted butter.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden and crisp.
- Straight from the oven, spoon the cooled syrup over the hot pastries. Let them cool completely.
- Fill the centres with the ganache or your chosen filling, garnish with chopped pistachios and serve.
