Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
Ingredients
- Butter1 stick
- Cream cheese8 oz
- Sugar3 cups
- Cocoa powder½ cups
- Vanilla1 tsp
Instructions
- Put the room-temperature butter in a mixer bowl and beat on medium speed with the paddle for 2–3 minutes, until light, creamy and almost doubled in volume.
- Turn off the mixer, add the room-temperature cream cheese, and beat for another minute or two until well combined.
- Turn off the mixer. Add the sugar and cocoa powder, then turn the mixer on low to combine. The mixture will look clumpy and dry at first until the sugar is incorporated.
- With the mixer on low, slowly add half of the milk. Use less milk for a thicker frosting for piping, more for spreading. Note that it is hard to thicken once thinned.
- Turn off the mixer and scrape down the bowl. Add the vanilla extract.
- Beat on medium speed for 1–2 more minutes, until light and fluffy.
