Cinammon Sugar Donut Twists Recipe
Ingredients
- Milk⅔ cups
- Yeast2 tsp
- Honey2 ½ tbsp
- Salt½ tsp
- Egg1
- Bread flour2 ½ cups
- Butter · softened3 tbsp
- Sugar3 tbsp
- Cinnamon · powder2 tsp
- Cinnamon sugar
Instructions
- Warm the milk in the microwave for 20 seconds, or until lukewarm. Stir in the yeast and let it stand for 5 minutes to bloom.
- Mix in the egg, honey and salt. Add the bread flour and mix until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the softened butter into the dough for about 10 minutes, until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Shape the dough into a ball, cover, and proof for 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a strip about 20 inches long, pressing out air bubbles as you go.
- Twist two strips in opposite directions, bring the ends together so they braid, then pinch the ends and tuck them under.
- Place the twists on a floured tray, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes or until 1.5 times their size.
- Heat oil to 360°F. Fry the twists in batches for a couple of minutes per side, until golden brown, keeping the shaping order so each one rises for the same time. Alternatively, bake at 400°F for 16-18 minutes; the baked version is drier and more like bread.
