Cinnamon Rolls Recipe | How to make Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
- Yeast2 tsp
- Milk⅔ cups + 1–2 tbsp
- Bread flour3 cups
- Sugar1 ¾ cups
- Butter2 sticks
- Egg1
- Cinnamon2 tbsp
- Brown sugar1 cup
- Cream cheese5 oz
- Vanilla1 tsp
Instructions
- Warm the milk slightly, then combine it with the yeast and 1 teaspoon of the sugar in a small bowl. Stir and leave for 10-15 minutes until active.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the flour, remaining sugar, butter and egg. Once the yeast has bubbled, add it and mix to a dough.
- Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth, stretchy and springy. Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover and leave in a warm place for an hour or until doubled.
- Meanwhile, mix the cinnamon, brown sugar and butter into a paste.
- Knock out the air from the risen dough, then roll it into a rectangle about 40x20 cm (15x10 inches).
- Spread the cinnamon paste evenly over the dough, right to the edges. Roll it up tightly from the longest edge.
- Trim the uneven ends and cut the roll into 8 equal pieces. Place them in a greased large rectangular baking dish, cover and leave somewhere warm for an hour to rise, or refrigerate overnight.
- Bring the rolls to room temperature if chilled, then bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25 minutes.
- Beat the cream cheese and 1/4 cup butter until smooth, then add the powdered sugar, vanilla and 1-2 tablespoons milk until it reaches a glaze consistency.
- Let the rolls cool for 5-10 minutes, then spread the glaze over them.
