Corn Tempura - Noriko's Kitchen - Japanese Cooking 101
Ingredients
- Sweet corn1
- Flour¼ cups
- Salt¼ tsp
- Oil
Instructions
- Make shallow cuts across the corn kernels with the tip of a knife, then halve the cob and slice the kernels off.
- Pat the corn dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- In a bowl, mix the corn and flour thoroughly.
- Add the salt and water and mix well; the batter should be sticky so it holds together when fried.
- Drop 3 heaped tablespoons of the corn mixture into oil heated to medium-high and deep-fry until lightly browned.
- Avoid handling the fritters too much while they cook so they do not fall apart. Serve sprinkled with salt.
