Delicious Yaki Onigiri Chazuke Recipe 焼きおにぎり茶漬け
Ingredients
- Yaki Onigiri2 pieces
- Dashi2 cups
- Soy sauce1 tsp
- Salt¼ tsp
- Scallion1
- Furikake
Instructions
- If the yaki onigiri are frozen, defrost them in the microwave until they reach room temperature, then reheat at 350°F (175°C) in an oven or toaster oven until crispy, about 10 minutes. Alternatively, pan-fry them on parchment until crispy outside and warm inside.
- In a medium saucepan, add 2 cups water and 1 dashi packet over medium heat. When it boils, lower to medium-low and simmer 2–3 minutes. Shake the packet a few times, then remove it. Add a little water if needed to make 2 cups dashi.
- Stir 1 tsp soy sauce and ¼ tsp Diamond Crystal kosher salt into the dashi until the salt dissolves. Keep covered on low heat.
- Cut 1 green onion into thin slices.
- Place one warm yaki onigiri in each bowl. Pour the broth over it until it reaches about three-quarters up the sides, leaving the crispy top uncovered. Keep leftover broth aside.
- Top with the green onion and furikake (or sesame seeds and dried nori). Break the rice ball and eat, adding reserved broth as needed.
