Dirty Chai Cinnamon Rolls Recipe ☕️
Ingredients
- Butter · softened5 tbsp
- Chai tea¼ cups
- Sugar3 ¼ cups
- Half & half
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Brown sugar · ground2 tbsp
- Coffee1
- Milk¾ cups
- Yeast2 ¼ tsp
- Egg · melted1
- Bread flour3 cups
- Salt¾ tsp
Instructions
- Stir the icing ingredients until smooth, then refrigerate.
- Mix the filling ingredients in a bowl and whisk to a paste-like consistency.
- Warm the milk in the microwave for about 45 seconds, until it feels like warm bath water, and put it in a bowl. Add the yeast, sugar, egg, egg yolk and melted butter, then beat in a stand mixer on speed 2 for 2–3 minutes.
- Add the flour and salt and knead on speed 3 for about 8 minutes, until smooth, elastic and pulling cleanly from the bowl. Shape into a ball, put in a large covered bowl in a warm place and rest 1 to 1½ hours, until doubled.
- Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 14×16-inch rectangle.
- Spread the filling over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Roll up as a log or cut into 1½-inch strips and roll each up. Rest 30 minutes at room temperature. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake about 20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Spread the icing evenly over the warm rolls, keeping any leftover icing aside.
