Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the soybean pulp, carrot, chopped green onion, all-purpose flour, cornstarch and seasoning. Mix by hand until well combined.
  2. Gradually add the water to form a slightly wet paste. Add the nori strips and mix until incorporated. Divide into 8 to 10 equal portions.
  3. Press each portion into a disc about 4 inches (10 cm) wide and 1 cm thick.
  4. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat with enough oil to coat the bottom. Cook in batches if needed, slide the patties in slightly apart, and flatten each slightly with the back of your palm.
  5. Cover, lower the heat to keep a light sizzle, and pan-fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Uncover, flip the patties with a spatula. If undercooked, cook another minute. Then cover and cook the other side for 2 to 3 minutes. For a deeper golden crust, cook each side uncovered for about another minute.
  7. While the patties cook, whisk 3 tablespoons sweet Thai chile sauce, chopped cilantro and lime juice in a bowl until well combined.
  8. Transfer the patties to a plate, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, and serve warm or at room temperature with the sauce.
