- Egg1
- Salt¼ tsp
- Chicken breast · boneless skinless1 lb
- Potato starch1 cup
- Cooking spray
- Orange juice½ cups
- Soy sauce¼ cups
- Brown sugar¼ cups
- Rice wine vinegar1 tbsp
- Orange1 tbsp
- Ginger · minced1 tsp
- Toasted sesame oil1 tsp
- Chili flake · flakes0.13 tsp
- Garlic3
- Cornstarch1 tbsp
- Sesame seed · sliced
Instructions
- Lightly beat the egg with the salt in a medium bowl. Add the chicken cubes and stir to coat.
- Break up any lumps in the cornstarch in a shallow bowl. Working a few pieces at a time, toss the chicken in the cornstarch until well coated, only as much as fits in the basket at once.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Lay the coated chicken in a single layer in the basket and spray generously with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 6 minutes. Flip the pieces, spray them again, and air fry about 6 more minutes until golden and crispy.
- Move the cooked chicken to a large bowl and repeat the coating and frying with the remaining pieces.
- While the last batch cooks, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, orange zest, ginger, sesame oil, red pepper flakes and garlic in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the sugar dissolves.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in the water in a small bowl, then whisk it into the saucepan. Keep whisking over heat about 1 minute, until thickened and translucent.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken and toss to coat.
