Easy Almond Toffee Recipe - Simple Chocolate Almond Toffee Tutorial
Ingredients
- Almond1 cup
- Sugar1 cup
- Butter½ lb
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Salt½ tsp
- Chocolate chip1 cup
Instructions
- Grease a 9x12 or 9x9 metal baking dish and line it with parchment paper, leaving the top of the paper ungreased.
- Toast the almonds: either skillet-toast whole almonds over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, or roast them on a baking sheet at 325°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Coarsely chop the almonds, spread half of them over the lined pan, and set the rest aside for topping.
- In a large heavy saucepan (at least 3 to 4 quarts), combine the butter, sugar, vanilla and salt.
- Stir constantly over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture boils, then keep stirring until it turns caramel-colored and reaches at least 300°F on a candy thermometer, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Immediately pour the toffee over the nuts in the pan and tilt the pan to spread it.
- While hot, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee, wait 2 minutes until softened, then spread them evenly.
- Scatter the remaining nuts over the chocolate and press them gently into it.
- Let cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours until the chocolate is fully set, then break or cut into pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
