Easy Apple Pie
Ingredientes
- Apple3 lb
- Lemon2 colheres de sopa
- Sugar1 xícara
- Flour½ xícara
- Cinnamon · ground1 ½ colher de chá
- Nutmeg · ground¼ colher de chá
- Double-crust pie dough1
- Butter2 colheres de sopa
- Egg1
Modo de preparo
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with the lemon juice. Add the sugar, flour and spices and stir until the apples are well coated.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll one disc of dough into a 12 to 14 inch circle. Line a 9-inch pie pan with it, letting the excess hang over the edge. Pour in the filling, pat it level with a slight mound in the centre, and dot with the butter.
- Roll the second disc into an 11-inch circle about 1/8 inch thick. Place it over the filling, or cut and arrange it in a pattern. Trim the excess to about 1 inch from the edge, tuck it under and crimp. If using a solid top, cut slits for steam. Place the pie on a rimmed baking sheet, brush the crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with extra sugar if you like.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 425°F.
- Lower the oven to 375°F and bake until the crust is deep golden brown and the filling is bubbling, about 50 minutes to 1 hour. If the crust browns too fast, loosely cover the pie or the edges with foil.
- If there is no bubbling visible through the double crust, check the centre; it should reach about 195°F. Cool completely on a wire rack, about 4 hours, before slicing.
