Easy Apple Pie Tarts - Delicious & Beautiful
Ingredients
- Butter · softened1 + 4 oz
- Sugar2 ¾ cups
- Salt¾ tsp
- Vanilla4 tsp
- Flour7 cups
- Apple · peeled sliced10
- Brown sugar1 cup
- Cornstarch4
- Cinnamon · ground1 tbsp
- Cream½ cups
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (170°C).
- In a mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the butter, salt, sugar and vanilla until fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add the flour in a few batches until a dough forms. Divide the dough in two equal portions and wrap one portion in plastic wrap.
- Press the other portion into two tart pans (10 inch/25 cm) or springform pans, then chill them in the freezer.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the remaining filling ingredients except the cream and cook until thickened and the apples are fork tender. Take off the heat, stir in the heavy cream and let cool completely.
- Roll the wrapped dough to 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) thick. Cut out leaf shapes with pie cutters (or cut strips) and place on parchment-lined trays. Freeze the cutouts until ready to decorate.
- Set the chilled pans on baking trays. Divide the cooled filling between the two pans, arrange the cutouts on top and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake on the center rack for 55–65 minutes, until golden.
- Cool the pies for 1 hour before transferring to serving platters.
