Easy Apple Roses
Ingredientes
- Sugar¼ xícara
- Cinnamon · ground1 colher de chá
- Apple2–3
- Lemon
- Puff pastry1 lb
- Flour
- Butter4 colheres de sopa
- Apricot3 colheres de sopa
Modo de preparo
- Preheat the oven to 375°F with a rack in the centre. Grease a 12-cup muffin tin. Stir the sugar and cinnamon together.
- Halve and core the apples, then slice them very thin (1/16 inch). Cover the slices with water, add the juice of 1 lemon and microwave for 3-4 minutes until soft and flexible but not mushy. Drain and pat dry.
- Unfold a thawed puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and roll to 1/8 inch thick, about 14 x 10 inches. Cut into 6 strips about 2 x 10 inches.
- Brush the centre of one strip with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Lay 6-7 apple slices, peel side up and slightly overlapping, along the top half with the edges just above the pastry. Brush apricot preserves over the apples.
- Fold the bottom half of the strip up over the apples. Starting at one end, roll it into a rose and place it in the muffin tin. Repeat with the rest.
- Brush the roses with the remaining butter and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar.
- Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes, until golden and fully baked. If the apples brown too fast, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes.
- Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then move to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if using and serve warm or at room temperature.
