Easy Apple Turnovers
Ingredientes
- Butter2 colheres de sopa
- Apple · peeled diced4 xícaras
- Brown sugar½ xícara
- Cinnamon1 colher de chá
- Salt¼ colher de chá
- Cornstarch2 colheres de chá
- Puff pastry · frozen2
- Egg
- Sugar¾ xícara
Modo de preparo
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the apples and cook a few minutes, stirring often.
- Add the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt and stir to coat the apples. Cook 5 to 10 minutes, until the apples are soft and syrupy. Turn the heat down to low.
- Sprinkle in the cornstarch and stir until the juices boil and thicken, about 1 minute. Transfer to a bowl, let cool 15 minutes, then refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll each thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch square. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Put a square on a baking sheet and brush its edges with egg wash. Spoon a few tablespoons of filling into the centre. Fold one corner over to the opposite corner to form a triangle. Press a fork along both straight edges to seal. Brush the top with egg wash, cut a few small slits in it, and sprinkle with sugar if you like.
- Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until golden and puffed. Let cool at least 15 minutes.
- Whisk the powdered sugar and water until smooth, adding a little more water if too thick. Drizzle over the warm turnovers.
