Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly, then mix it with the beef marinade ingredients and set aside.
- Whisk the brown sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
- Trim the broccolini and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Chop the garlic and green onion, and mince the ginger.
- Bring about 1 cup of water to a boil in a dry wok over high heat. Blanch the broccolini for 1 minute, then drain.
- Dry the wok completely over high heat, add oil and swirl. Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Spread the beef in the wok and cook until the edges darken and crisp, about a couple of minutes. Turn and cook the other side until the edges are crisp and the beef is about three-quarters cooked, with only faint pink.
- Pour in the sauce and stir-fry about a minute until thick, glossy and evenly coating the beef, stirring often.
- Add the broccolini and toss about 30 seconds to coat and reheat.
- Take off the heat, stir in the green onion and sesame oil, then serve sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
