Easy Cake Pops Recipe
Ingredients
- Vanilla1 box
- Vegetable oil½ cups
- Egg3
- Frosting1 cup
- Candy melts12 oz
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch cake pan with baking spray.
- Whisk the cake mix, water, oil and eggs together until well combined. Pour into the pan and bake according to the package directions. Let the cake cool completely.
- Line a small baking sheet or plate with wax or parchment paper that will fit in your fridge.
- Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl. Add the frosting and mix, by hand with a wooden spoon or on low speed with a hand mixer (about 30 seconds), until crumbly like wet sand and not pasty.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and set them on the lined sheet; they can touch. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or freeze for 30 minutes.
- Melt the candy melts or chocolate wafers following the package instructions, and pour into a 2-cup liquid measuring cup or tall glass.
- Keep most of the cake balls cold in the fridge and take out a few at a time; if they were frozen, move them to the fridge. Dip a lollipop stick tip in the coating, push it about halfway into a cake ball, then dip the ball, covering where the stick meets it, and turn to coat. Lift out and tap the side of the cup gently to drip off excess.
- Add sprinkles if you like, then stand the pop upright in a cake pop holder until set, 30 minutes to 1 hour. Reheat the coating as needed while coating the rest.
