Easy French Toast Recipe #shorts
Ingredients
- Egg8
- Milk1 cup
- Salt¼ tsp
- Vanilla2 tsp
- Cinnamon · ground1 tsp
- Honey1 tbsp
- Bread1 lb
- Butter3 tbsp
Instructions
- Slice the bread about 3/4 inch thick and, if you have time, leave it on a wire rack for 1 to 2 hours to dry out slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 275°F.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, egg yolks, milk, salt, vanilla, cinnamon and warm honey until well blended and the honey has dissolved. Pour into a casserole dish that holds 4 slices at a time, or as many as fit in your skillet.
- Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter in it.
- Soak 4 slices of bread in the egg mixture for 30 to 40 seconds per side, depending on thickness. Lift out, let excess drip back into the dish, then fry in the hot skillet for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Keep the cooked slices warm on a baking sheet in the oven at 275°F. Repeat with the remaining bread, adding butter as needed.
- When all the slices are cooked, leave them in the oven for another 10 to 15 minutes so the custard centre sets fully. Serve warm.
