Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, stirring now and then.
  3. Sprinkle over 1 teaspoon seven spice, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon allspice and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir well.
  4. Stir in 1½ cups jasmine rice until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour in 2 cups water so the rice is fully covered. Once simmering, reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the pan.
  6. Cook covered on medium-low heat for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove from the heat and leave covered for 10 more minutes.
  8. Toast the slivered almonds in 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small pan for a few minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Sprinkle the toasted almonds and chopped parsley over the rice just before serving.
