Easy Kongnamul Bap
Ingredients
- Rice3 cups
- Soybean14 oz
- Salt1 tsp
- Seasoned⅓ lb
- Soy sauce11 tsp
- Sugar3 tsp
- Shaoxing wine2 tsp
- Sesame oil4 tsp
- Garlic · minced, chopped2 tsp
- Garlic powder0.13 tsp
- Black pepper · ground0.13 tsp
- Scallion · chopped2 tbsp
- Chili powder2–3 tsp
- Sesame seed1 tbsp
- Chili pepper1 tsp
Instructions
- Mix all the seasonings into the ground beef, then stir-fry it on medium heat until fully cooked.
- Wash and clean the soybean sprouts, then drain them.
- Wash the rice and drain it.
- Put the rice in the pot, mix the water and salt, and pour it over the rice. Spread the sprouts and the cooked beef on top.
- In a rice cooker: place the pot inside, close the lid and start it on the White Rice setting.
- On the stovetop: put the sprouts and beef in the pot first, then add the rice on top. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes with the lid on, until the liquid is gone (the sound changes from bubbling to a low hiss). Turn off the heat and let it rest about 2 minutes before opening the lid. Do not open the lid before cooking is finished, or the sprouts can taste fishy.
- Mix all the sauce ingredients together. Add 1 Tbsp water if you want it less salty.
- When everything is cooked, gently mix the rice so the beef and sprouts are evenly distributed.
- Serve with the sauce on the side.
