EASY MARINARA - Way Better Than Jarred Sauce In Only 20 Minutes!
Ingredients
- Tomato1
- Tomato paste3 oz
- Garlic6 cloves
- Basil¼ cups
- Extra virgin olive oil¼ cups
- Pasta1 lb
- Chili flake · crushed flakes½ tsp
- Salt½ tsp
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil.
- Heat the olive oil and garlic in a large pan over medium heat. When the garlic is lightly golden (about 2 minutes), add the tomato paste and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often. If using, add the crushed red pepper flakes towards the end.
- Add about 2 ounces of water to loosen the paste, stir, then add the plum tomatoes.
- Simmer the sauce for 5 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the pasta to 1 minute less than al dente.
- Taste the sauce and adjust the salt, pepper and chili flakes.
- Remove half the sauce. Add the pasta to the pan and cook for 1 minute over medium-low heat until al dente. Add a little more sauce if needed, and a splash of pasta water to loosen.
- Tear the basil leaves by hand and add them to the pasta just before serving.
