Easy Oven Ribs with Homemade BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
- Racks baby back ribs2
- Salt5 ½ tsp
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Onion powder1 tsp
- Black pepper2 tsp
- Paprika2 tsp
- Ketchup1 ½ cups
- Vinegar1 ¾ cups
- Brown sugar¾
- Honey¼ cups
- Worcestershire sauce1 ½ tbsp
- Cayenne pepper0.13 tsp
Instructions
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. If the membrane is still on the back, grab it with a paper towel and pull it off.
- Mix the salt, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper and paprika into a spice rub. Rub it evenly over both sides of the ribs. Wrap the ribs in foil, set them on a foil-lined baking sheet and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 250°F with the rack in the middle.
- Bake 2 1/2 hours, then check for tenderness. If not tender, seal the foil and bake another 30 minutes, then check again. Remove once tender.
- While the ribs bake, put the barbecue sauce ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a simmer and cook about 5–10 minutes, stirring often. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Take off the heat and set aside.
- Turn on the broiler and set the rack to the second-highest position.
- Unwrap the ribs onto the foil-lined sheet. Pat off any juices, then brush barbecue sauce on both sides. Broil 1–3 minutes per side, watching closely so they don't burn.
- Remove, slice, brush the sides with more sauce and serve with extra sauce on the side.
