- Scallion1
- Chicken thigh · boneless skinless5 oz
- Egg2
- Dashi · powder½ tsp
- Soy sauce1 tbsp
- Mirin1 tbsp
- Sugar1 tsp
- Rice · cooked1
- Shichimi togarashi
Instructions
- Add 1/3 cup water, 1/2 tsp dashi powder, 1 Tbsp soy sauce and 1 Tbsp mirin to a cold pot.
- Add 1 tsp sugar, the sliced onion and the white part of the green onion.
- Lay the chicken pieces in a single layer on top. Turn the heat to medium-high (Mode II, 600W) and cover. Cook for 3 minutes.
- Flip the chicken. If the broth evaporates too fast, add 1 to 2 Tbsp water. Cover and cook for 1 to 2 more minutes.
- Reduce the heat to medium (Mode I, 250W) and open the lid.
- Drizzle the beaten egg in a spiral over the chicken and onion, then sprinkle with the green part of the green onion. Cook until the egg just sets, with no runny egg left, then turn off the heat.
- Place a serving of cooked short-grain rice in a donburi bowl and spoon the oyakodon and sauce over it. Serve right away, with shichimi togarashi if you like.
