Enjoy Cozy Fall Vibes with Salted Caramel Apple Campfire Pies
Ingredients
- Butter · softened2 tbsp
- Bread8
- Cooking spray
- Apple1 ½ cups
- Caramel sauce4 tsp
- Salt½ tsp
Instructions
- Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- Lightly coat a 4-inch cast-iron pie iron with cooking spray and preheat it over medium-hot campfire coals for 1 minute.
- Place one slice, buttered side down, in the bottom of the iron. Spread about 3 tablespoons of pie filling over the centre, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Drizzle 1 teaspoon caramel sauce over the filling and sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt. Top with another slice, buttered side out, and clamp the iron shut.
- Cook directly over coals (not flames) for 4 to 6 minutes, flipping occasionally, until the bread is golden brown and crisp and the filling is hot and gooey.
- Open the iron with heat-resistant gloves, move the pie to a plate, and let it cool for 1 to 2 minutes before serving.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients, or cook several pies at once in multiple irons.
