Everyone Loves These Cheesy Meatballs #shorts
Ingredients
- Bread3 slices
- Milk½ cups
- Ground beef1 lb
- Ground pork1 lb
- Parmesan cheese · finely grated½ cups
- Egg1
- Garlic3
- Parsley2 tbsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Black pepper · cracked½ tsp
- Oil for frying
- Marinara sauce3 cups
- Mozzarella cheese · shredded1 ½ cups
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F with a rack in the center. Put the diced bread in a large bowl, pour the milk or water over it, let it soak for 5 minutes, then mash with a fork.
- Add the beef, pork, half the parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined; do not overmix. The mixture should be very moist, so add a little more milk if needed.
- Shape into meatballs about 1½ inches across, roughly 2 tablespoons each. Wet your hands first.
- Heat about 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning every 2 minutes, for about 8 minutes per batch. They do not need to be cooked through.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara in a 9x13 inch casserole dish. Arrange the browned meatballs over it in one layer. Pour the remaining marinara over the top and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan and the mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes, until the meatballs reach 165°F inside, the cheese has melted and the casserole is bubbling.
