Favorite Way To Eat Tofu
Ingredients
- Extra firm tofu11 oz
- Soy sauce3 tbsp
- Rice wine vinegar1 tbsp
- Garlic1–2
- Chili flake · flakes½ tbsp
- Cornstarch4 tbsp
- Oil3 tbsp
- Sesame seed · chopped
Instructions
- Drain the tofu and press out the excess water using a tofu press, or wrap it in a clean tea towel and weigh it down with something heavy.
- In a small bowl, combine the sweet soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated garlic and red pepper flakes. Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of water, then stir or whisk until smooth.
- Cut the tofu into triangles or cubes and coat them in the remaining cornstarch.
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu in a single layer, without letting the pieces touch, and pan-fry for a few minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Pour the marinade into the pan; it will bubble up immediately. Quickly turn the tofu so every piece is coated on both sides.
- Transfer to a plate right away and garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions.
