Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and cook about 5 minutes, stirring now and then, until soft and translucent.
  3. Add 1 pound ground beef, break it up, and cook until browned with no pink left.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon seven spice, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon allspice and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir well.
  5. Add 1½ cups jasmine rice and stir until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour in 2½ cups water so the rice is fully submerged. Once simmering, reduce heat to medium-low and cover.
  7. Cook covered for 30 minutes on medium-low heat.
  8. Remove from heat and let it stand, covered, for 10 more minutes.
  9. Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small pan and toast 2 tablespoons slivered almonds until golden brown.
  10. Just before serving, scatter the toasted almonds and ¼ cup chopped parsley over the rice.
