French Onion Smash Burger Taco
Ingredients
- Butter2 tbsp
- Onion · sliced1 + ¼ cups
- Salt1 tsp
- Ground beef½ lb
- Black pepper · ground1 tsp
- Chili flake · flakes1 tsp
- Tortilla4
- Gruyère cheese · grated
- Worcestershire sauce
- Arugula
- Balsamic glaze
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion, season with salt, and cook, stirring often, for 30 to 40 minutes, until deep golden brown and caramelized.
- In a medium bowl, gently mix the ground beef, onion dip mix, black pepper and red pepper flakes until just combined.
- Divide the beef into 4 even balls. Press one ball onto each tortilla with your palm, spreading it over the whole tortilla and flattening it as much as possible.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the tacos one at a time, meat side down, for about 5 minutes until deeply browned and cooked through. Flip and cook about 3 minutes more. Transfer to a plate and repeat.
- Top each taco with grated Gruyère, caramelized onions, a few drops of Worcestershire sauce, a small handful of arugula and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
