French Toast: The Secret Finish Hack π #shorts
Ingredients
- Egg8
- Milk1 cup
- SaltΒΌ tsp
- Vanilla2 tsp
- Cinnamon Β· ground1 tsp
- Honey1 tbsp
- Bread1 lb
- Butter3 tbsp
Instructions
- Slice the bread about 3/4 inch thick and, if you have time, lay it on a wire rack for 1-2 hours to dry out slightly. Preheat the oven to 275Β°F.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, egg yolks, milk, salt, vanilla, cinnamon and warm honey until well blended and the honey has dissolved. Pour into a casserole dish big enough to hold 4 slices at a time, or as many as fit in your skillet.
- Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt 2 Tbsp butter in it.
- Soak 4 slices of bread in the egg mixture for 30-40 seconds per side, depending on thickness. Let excess drip back into the dish, then fry in the hot skillet for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Move the cooked toast to a baking sheet and keep it warm in the 275Β°F oven. Repeat with the remaining bread, adding butter as needed.
- Once all the toast is cooked, keep it in the oven for another 10-15 minutes so the custard center sets fully. Serve warm.
