Zubereitung
- Mix the beef, water, grated onion, chilli powder, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic and oregano in a bowl until well combined. The mixture will be wet.
- Simmer in a skillet over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until the meat is mostly cooked.
- Stir in the masa to thicken, then turn off the heat.
- Warm the tortillas on an oiled griddle until soft. Spread about 2 tablespoons of filling on each, fold over and press to seal.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 8 hours, or freeze until solid and store in a freezer container.
- Heat 1 inch of oil in a deep skillet to about 350°F. Fry 2 to 4 tacos at a time for about 2 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Fry frozen tacos straight from the freezer, adding about 1 extra minute.
- Drain on paper towels for a few minutes.
- Once slightly cooled, gently open each taco and add half a slice of American cheese, shredded lettuce and hot sauce.
