Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the garlic. Thinly slice the green onions, keeping the whites and greens separate.
  2. In a container, mix 2½ cups water with the chicken bouillon powder and set aside.
  3. Rinse the rice until the water runs clear, draining and repeating two or three times. (For short-grain rice, soak 30 minutes after rinsing and use 2 cups of stock instead.)
  4. In a large pot, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and the white parts of the green onions, and sauté about 1 minute until lightly golden.
  5. Add the drained rice and stir about 1 minute until the grains turn translucent.
  6. Pour in the stock, add the salt, and stir until it boils.
  7. Reduce to low, cover and simmer 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it steam, covered, for 10 more minutes without lifting the lid.
  8. Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter and the green onion greens, fluff gently and serve.
