Zubereitung
- Wash the rice until the water runs clear, draining and repeating two or three times. Then soak it in cold water for 30 minutes and drain it.
- In a container, mix the 2 cups of water with the soy sauce, mirin and chicken bouillon powder. Set aside.
- Finely chop the garlic. Thinly slice the green onions, keeping the whites and greens separate. Quarter the mushrooms if using, and cut the potatoes into bite-sized cubes.
- Optional: mix the sauce ingredients in a small container and set aside. If not using mirin, replace it with water and add a little sugar.
- Heat the oil over medium-high heat until very hot. Add the ground beef, spread it out, and season with a pinch of salt. Sear for 2 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip, break up the beef, and cook 1 more minute.
- Add the garlic, the white parts of the green onions, the mushrooms and the potatoes. Sauté for 4 to 5 minutes, until the potatoes start to soften.
- Add the drained rice and stir for 1 minute.
- Pour in the seasoned water and bring to a boil, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze and prevent sticking.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it steam for 10 more minutes without opening the lid.
- Stir in the green parts of the green onions and the butter. Gently fluff the rice and serve, with the optional sauce if using.
