Have Leftover Panettone??? Make this!
Ingredients
- Bread1
- Egg6
- Milk3 cups
- Sugar⅓ cups
- Cinnamon · powder1 tsp
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Olive oil
- Dark chocolate chip · grated
Instructions
- Cut the panettone into roughly 5 cm (2 inch) cubes and put them in a large baking dish lightly greased with olive oil spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange zest if using, and whisk until well combined.
- Pour the custard over the bread cubes, making sure all pieces are submerged. Add mini dark chocolate chips now if using. Let rest for 30 to 45 minutes so the bread absorbs the custard.
- While it rests, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the dish for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the centre is set. A toothpick inserted in the middle should come out soft and custardy, not wet.
- Remove from the oven and let cool and set for 5 to 10 minutes. Dust with icing sugar, slice into squares, and serve.
