Homemade Butter Cookies
Ingredients
- Butter1 cup
- Sugar½ cups
- Egg1
- Vanilla2 tsp
- Flour2 cups
- Salt¼ tsp
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl with a hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add the egg and vanilla and beat to combine.
- Add the flour and salt and beat until a dough forms, continuing until the mixture comes together.
- Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the dough and pipe 1–2 inch swirls or roses onto the sheets, leaving at least 1 inch between cookies.
- Bake one sheet at a time for about 15 minutes, until lightly golden. Start checking around 12 minutes; smaller cookies may be ready sooner, and larger ones may need a few more minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet. Serve warm or at room temperature, and store leftovers in an airtight container.
