Homemade Elmali Kurabiye
Ingredients
- Butter1 stick
- Sugar4 tbsp
- Baking powder½ tsp
- Flour1 ½ cups
- Milk2–3 tbsp
- Apple2
- Cinnamon1 tsp
- Walnut · chopped2 tbsp
Instructions
- Filling: Cook the grated apples with the cinnamon and granulated sugar over medium-high heat until soft and aromatic. Stir in the chopped walnuts, turn off the heat and let the filling cool.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the softened butter, powdered sugar and baking powder with a spatula. Gradually mix in the flour and milk until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. Divide into three equal pieces and shape into balls.
- On a floured surface, roll each ball into a small circle. Press a 6 to 8 inch small plate onto the dough and cut around it, re-rolling any scraps.
- Cut each circle into 8 triangles. Put a little filling on the wide end of each, roll toward the narrow end into a crescent, and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden. Cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar if you like.
