Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, warm milk, olive oil and sugar.
  2. Add the yeast, salt and flour and mix until combined.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes (or use a stand mixer).
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a draft-free spot, such as an turned-off oven, for 45 minutes or until doubled.
  5. Punch the dough down, divide it into 30 equal pieces, flatten each, place a piece of cream cheese in the centre, pinch to seal and roll into a smooth ball. Repeat with the rest of the dough and cream cheese.
  6. Arrange the balls in a greased pan (16-inch round, 9x13, or two smaller pans), leaving space between them.
  7. Cover loosely with a kitchen towel and let rise for 15 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the tops with egg wash, then sprinkle with sesame seeds and nigella seeds.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. If more colour is needed, broil for 3 to 5 minutes, watching closely.
  10. Take out of the oven, drizzle with honey syrup while hot, and let it soak in.
