How To Cook Beef Brisket - Oven Brisket Recipe | Hilah Cooking
Ingredients
- Beef1
- Rub
- Black pepper6 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Onion powder1 tsp
- Smoked paprika1 tsp
- Mustard1 tsp
- Cayenne pepper½ tsp
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F and place a rack in the bottom of a roasting pan big enough to hold the brisket. Use a lidded pan if you have one; otherwise have aluminum foil ready.
- Trim the fat so that only about 1/4 inch of fat covers the top, and cut out the thick fat heel on the underside of the point.
- Mix all the rub ingredients in a bowl. Use the full amount for an 8-10 pound brisket, or half for a 3-4 pound brisket.
- Rub the mixture over both sides of the brisket and press it in.
- Place the brisket on the rack, fat side up, and cover it.
- Bake covered for 6-14 hours, depending on size. No basting needed.
- When the brisket is soft and jiggly, remove the foil and bake for another hour to crisp the crust.
- Rest, covered, for 30 minutes to 1 hour, then slice thinly against the grain.
