How to make a chopped cheese sandwich
Ingredients
- Ground beef750 g
- Garlic powder2 tsp
- Onion powder1 tsp
- Onion · finely diced1
- Cheddar cheese110 g
- Iceberg lettuce · shredded
- Tomato · thinly sliced2
- Butter
- Hot dog2–4
- Garlic
Instructions
- Shape the beef mince into patties about 180g/190g each.
- Heat a large pan over high heat. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper (cajun or another spice mix is optional), add them and press down to form a crust.
- Sear for 2–3 minutes, until a crust forms. Flip the patties, add the finely diced onion and chop the patties into bits with a spatula, leaving fairly large chunks.
- Top with the cheddar or your chosen cheese, turn off the heat and cover with a lid until melted. Remove from the stove.
- Slice the buns partway through and spread generously with butter. Toast them in the oven under the grill/broiler or in a pan.
- Spread garlic mayonnaise on the toasted buns, add the beef, then top with tomato and lettuce. Close and wrap the sandwich tightly, slice in half and serve.
