Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Whisk the flour, baking soda and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter, then cook it over medium heat, stirring often, for about 5 to 8 minutes until golden brown, to make browned butter. Let it cool.
  3. Beat the two sugars with the cooled butter. Add the egg, egg yolk and vanilla (or bourbon or dark rum) and beat again.
  4. Mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then stir in the chocolate and dried cherries.
  5. Let the dough rest for 10 to 30 minutes while the oven preheats to 325°F.
  6. Line two baking sheets with parchment. Scoop the dough with a 1/4 cup measure and place the portions 2 inches apart, about 6 per sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Let the cookies cool completely on the sheets; they will firm up as they cool. Store in airtight containers.
