How to Make Gummy Worms | Hilah Cooking
Ingredients
- Gelatin4
- Sugar2 tbsp
- Juice1 cup
- Half & half2 tbsp
- Food coloring
- About 50 straws
Instructions
- Put all the straws upright in a straight-sided jar wide enough to hold them, bundling with a rubber band if needed, and stand the jar in an ice water bath at least 2 inches deep.
- Dissolve the gelatin and sugar in the cold juice.
- Add the boiling water and stir until the gelatin has dissolved and the liquid is smooth and thick.
- Stir in the cream.
- Pour about half the mixture evenly into the straws, filling each about 1 to 2 inches deep.
- Let it set in the ice bath for 10 to 20 minutes, until mostly solid.
- Meanwhile, stir the red food coloring into the remaining gelatin mixture.
- Pour it into the straws as evenly as possible, then remove the jar from the ice bath and refrigerate for several hours or overnight until fully set.
- To release the worms, dip the straws in warm water for a couple of seconds, then squeeze from the empty end. If they do not slip out easily, the straws are too cold; warm them again in water.
- Store the worms in an airtight plastic container in the refrigerator for several days, after spraying them lightly with oil and gently tossing to coat so they do not stick together.
