How to Make Marble Bundt Cake
Ingredients
- Flour2 cups
- Cornstarch¼ cups
- Baking powder2 ½ tsp
- Baking soda0.63 tsp
- Sour cream¾ cups
- Milk6 tbsp
- Butter1 cup + 1 tbsp
- Sugar1 ½ cups + 1 tbsp
- Egg3
- Vanilla1 tbsp
- Cocoa powder¼ cups
Instructions
- Sift the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and baking soda together.
- Whisk the milk and sour cream together in a separate bowl.
- Beat the room-temperature butter until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and the yolk one at a time, beating on medium speed.
- Add the vanilla and beat for another minute.
- On low speed, add the flour mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk and sour cream mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Set aside 1 to 2 cups of batter, depending on how much chocolate you want for the marble.
- In a separate bowl, heat the butter and sugar until the butter melts, then keep mixing until the sugar dissolves.
- While mixing, sift in the cocoa powder and mix until smooth with no lumps.
- Stir the chocolate mixture into the reserved batter.
- Press the plain and chocolate batters into well-buttered and floured pans. Trim any excess and save scraps for cake pops if wanted.
- Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the mini bundt pans, until the centre springs back when gently pressed.
- Glaze or ganache is optional; the vanilla glaze uses about 2 tablespoons milk per cup of sifted confectioners' sugar with vanilla to taste, and the ganache uses equal parts dark chocolate and cream, heated in 30-second bursts at 50% power until the chocolate softens enough to whisk.
