Zubereitung
- In a bowl, mix the beef with the salt, crushed bouillon, onion powder, garlic, red pepper, oil and lemon juice until well combined.
- Heat a skillet, add a little oil, then cook the beef in a single layer until browned and cooked through. Work in batches if needed so the pan is not crowded.
- Move the beef to a plate and let it rest for a few minutes.
- If using sausages or hotdogs, brown them in the same pan until lightly browned, then set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet chili sauce, lemon juice and red pepper until smooth and creamy.
- Finely shred the cabbage and grate or julienne the carrot.
- In a large bowl, mix the beef, cabbage, carrot and some of the sauce.
- Separate the pita into two rounds if it has a pocket; leave it whole if it is not very fresh.
- Spoon some of the beef mixture onto the lower third of each bread. Add a sausage on top if using.
- Fold one side over the filling, tuck in the bottom edge, and roll tightly.
- Place seam-side down in a dry skillet, grill pan, sandwich press or panini maker and toast 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden and lightly crisp.
- Slice in half and serve.
