How To Make Rice Wine

By Souped Up Recipes

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Put the glutinous rice and water in a jar, stir, pour out the water, and repeat a few times. Drain thoroughly.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of water and soak the rice for 1 hour. Leave at least half of the jar empty because the rice will expand.
  3. Steam the jar without its lid for 40 minutes, with the lid, a small bowl and a spoon in the steamer to sanitise them.
  4. Once steamed, leave the lid on and let everything cool completely, which takes a few hours.
  5. Dissolve the yeast in 3 tbsp distilled water in the sanitised bowl, using cooled boiled water if needed. Do not use hot water.
  6. Pour the yeast water into the rice, put on the lid, tighten it fully, then loosen it slightly to allow air exchange.
  7. Ferment for 2 to 3 days, depending on room temperature, until it becomes sweet rice wine.
