How to Make Spam Musubi (Collab with Veggietorials!) | Hilah Cooking
Ingredients
- Rice1 cup
- Spam1 can
- Honey2 tsp
- Soy sauce1 tsp
- Garlic · minced1 tsp
- Nori seaweed5
- Cucumber · thinly sliced
Instructions
- Rinse the rice (unless the package says it is pre-rinsed). Put it in a pot with 1 1/2 cups water and cover. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Slice the Spam into 5 or 6 slices. Fry them in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, turning now and then, for a few minutes until browned and crispy at the edges.
- Mix the honey, soy sauce and garlic. Spoon over the Spam and turn the slices so the sauce caramelizes slightly. Turn off the heat and leave the Spam in the pan to keep warm.
- Cut the nori sheets in half lengthwise.
- Pack about 1/3 cup of warm rice tightly into the empty Spam can. Flip the can and tap gently to release the rice block.
- Lay half a nori sheet on a cutting board and place a Spam slice across the center. Top with a rice block and any other ingredients you like.
- Wet the ends of the nori, wrap them around the rice and press to seal.
